Hello,

Welcome to Sacred Beginnings Birth Services’ little corner of the internet.  I’m glad you found my site.  Grab a drink, pull up a chair get comfy, and find out some more about me and why I do what I do.

I’m Sarah, and I share my home in Nottinghamshire with my husband, our three children, and three crazy dogs who get up to all sorts of antics like running away across the farmer’s fields by our home, stealing food, and chewing up shoes…the dogs that is not the children.

I’ve led a varied life since my childhood beginnings in Northern Ireland, including living in many countries across different continents.  This has given me great insight into a multitude of cultures, and I love to incorporate little elements of these within my own life.

I enjoy being surrounded by peaceful quiet, but the rest of my family are quite loud in every way, so that keeps life interesting to say the least.

In my free time I love going on walks with my brood watching they climb trees and slide down muddy hills.  You will also find my reading books, especially if they are somehow related to birth as I am a birth nerd.  I also love to wrap up in cardigans with a hot drink, and if the drink is contained in a handmade mug, that’s even better!

“You’ve got to find what you love.  And this is true for your work as it is for your lovers.  Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work.”  Steve Jobs

So how did I get to where I am today?  After going to university, I trained to be a teacher.  I disliked every day of my training, and didn’t feel it was the right fit for me, and while I loved the children I worked with, the paperwork and targets got in the way of loving the job.

I left teaching to pursue a different path and discover something that fulfilled me and allowed me to be creative.  I knew before I was even pregnant with my eldest child that I was destined to work within the world of birth in some form.  How that looks has slowly evolved over the years with my own experiences and research.

I believe birth is a sacred happening, and I have a passion for ensuring women have all the information they need and know their rights so that they can make informed choices surrounding the type of birth that is right for them and their babies.  Part of this includes celebrating birth through documenting the story with films and images.  As a child, I loved to look at the old family photo albums passed down through generations which gave me a tangible record of love and family and a sense of my place within it.  It is my hope that many more people will invest in gifting their children these meaningful heirlooms, so that they can see either in motion or photographs how they entered the world, the love that surrounded them as they came earth side and know they are valued and wanted.  It is a true privilege to join you on the journey and honour your inner birthing goddess and strength in this way.

It is also my great pleasure to nurture mothers in the post partum period through placenta remedies and Closing the Bones massage.  I count it an honour to serve you in this way, and I look forward to expanding these services in the future.

I have found something that I love, and I believe that what I do is a great work.   I can’t wait to chat with you about the ways that I can help you to make your birth experience and postpartum period as wonderful as can be and give you a physical record of the memories to look back on for the rest of your life and to pass down through your family.
